Barnhart Press, a dba of Wright Printing, continues to embrace new technology in order to best serve our client’s needs. We are excited to be the first install of the Fuji 750S J Press, ensuring excellent color consistency, quick turn-around times, and crisp, quality, print images.
Print and Promo Magazine is featuring Women in Print this month and we thought, what a good idea! So today we’d like you to meet some of the women that make up our print team at Barnhart Press.
We have a proud tradition of women in print in production, prepress, sales, accounting, and customer service. Including two 4th generation women of print families. Mardra Sikora, Wright Printing CEO, literally grew up in the shop, playing on the equipment, and helping in small ways from an early age.
While at lunch during a conference of the National Print Owners Association, I sat among other owners and we enjoyed print-small-talk. While sharing details about our shops, my eyes lit up as I detailed the new technology on our floor.
With a giddy smile, I looked around and said, “I’m sorry. My print-geek is showing.”
“It’s alright,” I was assured, “You’re safe here.”
We laughed and continued our conversation; it’s fun to talk to people who “get it.”
At that NPOA event, Pocket Folders Fast, a dba of Wright printing/Barnhart Press, featured a folder with digital print, digital die-cutting, and variable digital foil with UV effects. It’s no wonder I was giddy. It’s time to talk about the advantages the inkjet technology brings to the mix for you and your clients.
Our investments are driven by our customer’s expectations. Of course, quality of print is the first and most important benefit. What I love the most about the inkjet quality is the color consistency, first sheet to last, one side to second side, folder to insert pieces; it is unbeatable. Obviously, quality is an assumed requirement on every job. Still, there has been a learning curve of acceptance regarding digital print and it’s been fun showing off this technology’s capabilities.
On Feb 9, we had such a great time with over 120 people attending our open house. We showed off new technology, including digital print and foil, spot UV effects, and digital die-cutting. Plus, conventional foil/emboss, conventional offset presses, and Bobst die-cutters that span generations.

After 77 years in the Farnam Street building, we moved into a new location. Not only is it more centrally located, we’ve also added more equipment and services to meet customer needs. The physical move began on July 9th, we are settling in, and ready to impress!
Barnhart Press and Wright Printing entered into partnership effective July 1st of 2016. Barnhart Press has been making great impressions since 1904 serving the local commercial printing market and will continue to honor the hard-earned and well-known reputation known as the “Barnhart Magic.” (More on Barnhart history here.)
With this partnership comes new technology and equipment, starting with the latest in digital die-cutting technology, the HighCon, and also a KAMA Press for foil stamping and diecutting, with further new equipment installations through August. In addition, Barnhart Press is relocating its employees and equipment to the recently renovated 90,000 square foot plant at 11616 I Street.
John Barnhart, 4th generation of the Barnhart Press Family and Company President noted, “The opportunity to offer our customers the very latest in pre-press, press, digital, die-cutting, folding, gluing, foil and embossing, in a single story, state of the art printing facility will put us in the forefront position to service customers in the most economical and efficient means possible.”
